Added to the Wrong Group Chat
added to the wrong group chat by accident. the whole team, minus me. i left quietly. now i'm watching the number.
This one goes to a heavy place. If you’d rather not read it tonight, that’s a fine choice — support resources are here.
Someone added me to the wrong group chat by accident tonight. Forty messages I scrolled before I understood it wasn't meant for me. The team, minus me. Planning Dana's thing. Funny stuff, the kind we used to do.
I left the chat. Quietly. No one will see the little 'left' line until morning, if they look.
Then I sat here and started writing the message. The one where I'm fine about it. Light. A joke even, so they'd know I saw and it didn't land. I wrote it four times. Read it back in their voices.
I deleted it. Wrote a different one, the honest one, meaner. Deleted that too.
It's late and my thumb hurts and I haven't sent anything. I'm not even angry, exactly. I keep checking whether the number in the chat dropped by one when I left. Whether anyone noticed the room got smaller.
That's when I catch it. I've been refreshing to see if they miss me. Not to get back in. Just to be missed.
Did this one stay with you?
